چکیده

In future communication systems, the constraint of resource allocation is a challenging topic. The cell edge users in wireless systems experience low Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR) due to the high InterCell Interference (ICI) and cannot fully benefit from Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) multi-stream transmission capability. In this project, a practical approach to the multicell cooperation using joint user scheduling and rank coordination is proposed. In this, the cells coordinate among themselves using the transmission ranks (the number of transmitted streams) to maximize a network utility function, i.e., the throughput. Without going for the heavy machinery of an iterative scheduler, we aim for a simpler and practical method that directly tackles user scheduling and rank coordination. The dynamic coordination of the transmission ranks among cells helps cell edge users to benefit from higher rank transmissions. A distributed coordinated scheduler based on master-slave architecture is also studied and significant cell-edge performance gain is obtained using this approach.

Novel Approach for Multicell Mimo-ofdma Network Based on Rank Coordination

A common approach for multicell MIMO-OFDMA network based on rank coordination is to impose sparsity constraints on the cell structure. Such constraints, however may greatly complicate the control design procedure. This paper puts forward an alternative structure, which is well suited for control purposes. The structure appears as the optimal solution to the class of coordination problems arisin...

Cooperative MIMO multicell networks

Recently, the pressing desire to provide cost-effective solutions aimed at supporting high-throughput broadband wireless access with large-scale coverage has significantly changed the notion of the traditional cellular systems. Physical layer cooperation serves as an enabling technology for such a change. In latest cellular networks, neighboring infrastructure stations, such as base stations (B...

Broadcast Network Coverage with Multicell Cooperation

Multicell cooperation has been identified as one of the underlying principles for future wireless communication systems. This paper studies the benefits of multicell cooperation in broadcast TV network from an information theoretical perspective. We define outage capacity as the figure of merit and derive the broadcast coverage area to evaluate such system. Specifically, we calculate the broadc...

Capacity Limits of Base Station Cooperation in Cellular Networks

In the information-theoretic literature, it has been widely shown that multicell processing is able to provide high capacity gains in the context of cellular systems. What is more, it has been proved that the per-cell sum-rate capacity of multicell processing systems grows linearly with the number of base station (BS) receive antennas. However, the majority of results in this area have been pro...

Capacity Measurements in a Multicell MIMO System

In future wireless networks, cooperation between the base stations may reduce the effects of intercell interference and enhance the capacity per cell. In this paper, the potential of such cooperation is evaluated using measurements of the informationtheoretic channel capacity at 5.2 GHz in 4 overlapping urban microcells with 5 users. In each link, a 10-transmit 16-receive antenna configuration ...
